Vaping has exploded in popularity in recent years, and there are lots of tips and advice circulating about how to keep your devices and e-liquids in tip-top condition. While the majority of tips are just basic common sense, it is nice to have a refresher from time to time. Regular maintenance will help you to keep your e-cigarette in excellent condition and your e-liquids tasting their best. Here is a selection of the best care and maintenance tips for people who love to vape:
Looking after your tank
You should be cleaning your tank regularly, with a quality solution designed for cleaning. Solutions should be made from unflavoured alcohol, of the high grain variety. Tanks should not be cleaned using Isopropyl alcohol or water as both could destroy your coils.
Ensure that you keep your tank topped up with liquid. Avoid allowing your tank to run low as this can cause the atomiser to burn out over prolonged periods. This can also cause a burning taste in the liquid, which is not pleasant!
How to make your liquid last
Avoid keeping any of your e-liquids in direct sunlight. Do not expose them to excessive heat as this could impact the taste of your liquid. Also, it may also thin the liquid which could cause it to leak out of the reservoir and onto the top of your battery.
If you want to avoid your e-liquid running out so fast, you can place it in the fridge until you are ready to use it again. This should help keep the flavours intense and avoid diminishing the quality.
Caring for your battery
When you get a new device, it can be tempting to use it until the battery runs down. However, you should avoid allowing your battery to die completely before charging it up again. This will help prolong the life of your battery long term.
Weekly, at least, ensure that you are checking the top, or head, of your battery. Ensure that none of the vape liquid has leaked on to the battery as this could cause damage in the long term.
If the terminals where you place your battery become dirty then you can clean these using a cotton wool bud. You don’t need to use any solution to do this, and the cotton wool bud you use should be completely dry.
If you notice that your battery is no longer making contact with one of the terminals then you can very carefully adjust this, 1mm approximately. Ensure that you are careful doing so, as damaging the terminals will void any manufacturer’s warranty that you have.
Ensure that you have a regular cleaning schedule in place to keep your equipment in optimum condition. Most aspects of cleaning just require a basic common sense approach. If you are keeping your liquid stored correctly, and cleaning your device regularly, then you should not encounter any problems.
