Vaping tricks may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but let’s be honest, who hasn’t watched a few videos on YouTube and not been a little impressed?
Many of the simple vaping tricks are not new but have, in fact, been used by smokers for many years. The French Inhale and smoke rings are just two that vapers have picked up. Where smoke from traditional cigarettes was a significant limiting factor to the tricks that could be performed, the lovely thick clouds produced by vaping allow for much more elaborate creations.
As with anything in life, if you want to become an expert at vape tricks and wow your friends and family with your cloudy repertoire, then you need to master the basics. To help you take the first steps we’ve pulled together some of the best tricks for beginners to learn.
The Equipment You’ll Need
To perform these tricks, you’ll first need a high VG e-liquid. Every e-liquid you buy will have a PG/VG ratio. Higher levels of PG in your juice will mean you’ll get a bigger flavour hit. Higher levels of VG produce more vapour, which equals bigger clouds (If you’d like to know more about the PG/VG ratio, you can check out our blog post here. Ideally, you should use a sub-ohm tank. If you don’t have one, then you’ll need a mod with an RDA.
Trick 1 – The Ghost
How to Ghost
This is one of the easiest tricks to master and a great one for beginners, as once mastered, it will help you move on to other tricks.
Start by inhaling a good amount of vapour and hold it in your mouth for a couple of seconds rather than taking it down into your lungs. Next, do a very slight exhale. Anything more than a very gentle release will blow the vapour out of reach. Finally, take a big inhale to draw the cloud back into your mouth. If done correctly the vapour should look to slowly release, then snap back in.
Trick 2 – The French Inhale
How to French Inhale
As VapeChilla says in the video, this is best tried once you’ve mastered the Ghost, as they are very similar tricks. Step 1, as above take a big inhale and hold in your mouth for a few seconds. Next, open your mouth to gently release the vapour. Finally, inhale through your nose while slowly closing your mouth. If you want to make the effect a bit more dramatic, when you open your mouth to release the vapour, push your bottom jaw out. It’s not pretty, but it’s effective!
Trick 3 – The Bane
How to Bane
Hopefully, by now, you’ve perfected the Ghost and the French Inhale, which means you’re ready for the Bain. Why’s this trick called ‘Bain’? Well, for anyone familiar with Batman, this trick aims to emulate the mask worn by the supervillain Bane. If you’re not familiar with Bain, well, it looks good, so give it a go anyway!
The Bain is basically a more advanced French Inhale, so essentially, all the steps you learnt above still apply. The difference comes with the mouth position during the exhale. Instead of simply opening your mouth, you want to do a bit of a cheesy grin. The idea is that you will force the vapour through the gaps in your teeth to create the lines of the mask. Everybody is a little different so where you position your teeth is a bit of a case of trial and error. To close together and you won’t release enough vapour. Too far away and too much vapour will come out, so you won’t get the clearly defined lines. One point to remember is that, unlike the French Inhale, you need to exhale strongly as you want to force the vapour through small gaps in your teeth.
Trick 4 – The Dragon
How to do the Dragon
This is one of the easiest tricks to do, and it also looks pretty cool when executed properly. Basically, you want to exhale out of the corners of your mouth and your nose at the same time. To start with, take a big inhale, as you’ll want your dragon to have lots of smoke. Close your mouth and then try and do a big smile while keeping the centre of your lips together. You should feel the corners of your mouth lifting, and small gaps will appear. Finally, force a big exhale through both mouth corners and the nose simultaneously.
Trick 5 – The Waterfall
How to do the Waterfall
Finally, a really easy one that anyone should be able to master quickly. You’ll need a bottle with a small amount of frozen water in the bottom. Inhale as normal and then exhale straight into the bottle until full. When you’re finished, slowly pour out the vapour, and it will look like a slowly falling waterfall.
